Why do we have Care Groups?
At Crown Valley Community Church, we believe Care Groups provide the most positive and practical environment for the life change Jesus Christ intends for every person.
We believe significant spiritual relationships in the church occur best in the context of a Care Group.
1 Corinthians 12:25 “So that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.”
Connecting people in a smaller group of believers creates a safe place to share life experiences, accept one another, meet needs, foster spiritual growth, discuss scripture, and experience the life Christ promised at a more personal level.
In brief, it is connecting people to God, to one another, and to the church.
The Five Goals of Care Groups
I. To provide believers an opportunity to help one another in their growth in practical holiness, i.e. Sanctification.
1 Peter 1:16-17 15but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
II. To provide an opportunity for believers to exercise mutual care for one another.
1 Corinthians 12:24-26 "so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it."
III. To provide an opportunity for believers to participate in true biblical fellowship with their brothers and sisters in Christ in an informal, family oriented setting.
Acts 2:42 "They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
IV. To provide an opportunity for believers to exercise their spiritual gifts in a practical way not possible in more formal gatherings such as worship services or bible studies.
Romans 12:4-8 "Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. "
V. To provide an opportunity for believers to evangelize their un-churched neighbors, family, and friends.
John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
Why Attend a Care Group?
With the hectic pace of modern life it’s easy to limit our church involvement to that of a spectator. However, our faith is not to be a spectator sport. It is active, growing and very much alive. Our desire is that each person who regularly attends CVCC will become faithfully involved in a small group.
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25
